Police escorts:
A state police escort is required in front of loads exceeding 16 feet wide on two-lane highways and any highway other than interstate.
On interstates, police escorts are mandatory for loads that are 18 feet wide or more, or for loads that are 150 feet or longer in overall length.
Super Loads:
Super loads are defined as any load exceeding routine oversize/overweight permit limits, generally over 16' wide, 16' high, 150' long, or 160,000 lbs. gross weight. Loads over 17'5" high require written approval from utility companies. Movement is restricted between 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM.
Escort Requirements:
1 front and 1 rear escort for super loads over 350,000 lbs.
Police escorts are required when a load exceeds 16' wide, 18' wide (on interstates), 150' long, 17' high, or as deemed necessary.
