Special Requirement:
A licensed lead Peace Officer plus front and rear escorts are required when any part of the load extends beyond the left of the centerline on undivided roadways.
Super Loads:
Trunnion Axles: Single axle at 26,000 lbs, tandem axle group at 52,000 lbs (with bridge check); single axle at 30,000 lbs, tandem axle group at 60,000 lbs.
Width: Up to 14’6” may not require escorts, depending on the route. Loads over 14’6” always require escorts. If the load/vehicle cannot stay on the right side of the centerline on non-divided highways, a lead police escort is mandatory.
Height: Over 16' requires a physical route survey conducted 6 inches higher than the permit height, to be completed within one week before the move begins.
Length: Escorts may be required for excessive length, depending on the route and vehicle configuration.
